Dear Taproom Friend & Baird Beer Enthusiast:
Are you in need of a mid-winter spirit boost? The brewery minions at Baird Beer have been busy concocting more seasonal brews that promise to vanquish
your winter doldrums. (1) Eighty-Shilling Ale (ABV 4.8%): This is a classic Scottish-style Export Ale. It is richly malty
and yet extremely balanced and quaffable. One single kettle dosage of the wonderfully floral and spicy American hop Glacier provides a zesty ballast to the juicy-fruit maltiness. Fermented and
conditioned at low ale temperatures, there is a particularly clean and round character to this liquid Scottish treat. This very limited beer is available on draught only at the Fishmarket Taproom and select
Baird Beer retailers in Japan. (2) Morning Coffee Stout 2007 (ABV 6.4%): Brewing a rich and roasty export-style stout
and enhancing it with a pinch of fresh ground coffee beans is an annual rite at the Baird Brewery. This year we added an Espresso blend to the wort as it settled in the whirlpool vessel. The result is
a stunningly complex Stout beer of inestimable depth. A wonderfully subtle espresso coffee flavor will linger quietly on your palate in a pleasure-provoking sort of way as you move back toward the bar
counter to belly up for another. Morning coffee should be so good! Available in both kegs and bottles while supplies last. Cheers! Bryan Baird
